And an AI-generated image of Oliver as a “Game of Thrones” character (“John Oliver Snow”). More than 2,500 communities on Reddit remain blacked out nearly two weeks into the protest. Regular news consumers are familiar with the endless media effort to tie adverse events to businesspeople and right-of-center politicians. This column’s most celebrated alumnus entertained readers by satirically blaming all manner of random misfortunes on either climate change or George W. Bush.
